I've heard that almond milk does good for your body. It is known as one of the popular substitute of milk since long ago. And it turns out that it is very easy to make it at home. Here's what you need:
- Raw almonds
- Water
- Pitted dates or honey
- A blender
- Strainer
And how to make it?
- Soak almonds in cool water for 8 hours, or you can do it overnight
- Drain out the soaking liquid and clean the soaked almonds with clean water. They'll get really plump.
- Put almonds into a blender and put water. The comparison is 1:4. So if you have 1 cup of almonds, then you need 4 cups of water. If you want to add sweet flavour, add 1 tablespoon of honey, or add one pitted date (or two, it's really up to you).
- Blend for about 1 minute until you have a creamy texture.
- Separate the almond milk and the almond pulp. Drain the almond milk using a stainer and a cloth. Slowly pour the almond milk on top of the cloth through the strainer.
- Drain out every last bit that you can get by squeezing the almond pulp inside the cloth.
- And there you have it. Delicious and creamy almond milk.
- Store in a glass jar and it will last for 3 to 5 days.
So what to do with the almond pulp? YOu can make almond meal, almond flour, or almond sprinkle for your smoothie or morning yoghurt. See? That's how easy it is to make almond milk!
